CDRWIN ... who's who and who made what?

I really don't get it anymore ....

So you have /http://www.goldenhawk.com where CDRWIN version 3.8G and 4.0A can be found (the official site I think....)

But then you have /http://www.goldenhawk.de(or /http://www.disc4you.com/start.html) that is also CDRWIN related. There they talk about versions 3.8G and 4.0A but strangely enough you can also download version 5.02.000 from the ftp server

Within CDRWIN 5.0 they refer to /http://www.cdrwin.info but that site leads to /http://www.goldenhawk.de (where CDRWIN 5.0 isn't even mentionned)

And then you have the site /http://www.engelmann.com/english/ where they do talk about CDRWIN 5.0 and at the about section you can read this:

Engelmann Media GmbH
Since 1995, Engelmann Media GmbH has developed and distributed innovative soft- and hardware solutions within the optical storage industry. Based on the core technology of CDRWIN, the company now has diversified into all aspects of state-of-the art premastering, copying and handling data connected with optical storage.

... *some peices cut out here* ...

Ulrich Engelmann, CEO, comments the current company development: „The recent
change from CDRWIN 3.8 to version 5 indicates the successful shift from being a
producer of niche-software to offering sophisticated solutions which satisfy both experts and novices. Already at CeBIT 2002 we own a product portfolio, which fully results from our concentration on consequent in-house production. Lean, but mean we are now able to offer not only an attractive price, but also the flexibility to react rapidly on all relevant market trends. A flexibility on which both consumers and business partners can rely.“

Then I ask myself the following question: Are CDRWIN 4.0A and 3.8G discontinued? Why isn't this posted on the official site (/http://www.goldenhawk.com? Or is it a hoax?

Final question: What is the official newest version of CDRWIN?

Thank your for your time. :p

Found this:

I did talk to the boss of Disc4You.
Mr. Ullrich Engelmann
I didn´t tell him about my being the webmaster of
CDRSoft, and so we had a nice talk. Mainly about
their "new" products, and the future of CDR gernerally.
The first thing I want to tell about is: CDRWin 5
Many people say it is an fake, and a sucking german
CDR Site, claimed it comes from Goldenhawk.
Just bullshit ;)
The real story:
The man behind Goldenhawk (no, I won´t post his name)
made a bunch of cash with his good old burning tool
CDRWin. It was claimed that he uses some stolen code from
a freeware CDR program, but that isn´t imoportant anymore ...
As you´ve seen for yourself, the only thing changed
in CDRWin the past months, was the support for new
burners, and nothing else ...
He has lost the intersstes for his program, and so he stoped
pushing the developemnet forward.
CDRWin is dead. There won´t come new features.
But here we come back to Disc4You:
They already distributed the program on the german market, and
so they are a close partner of Goldenhawk.
Since Goldenhawk doesn´t have interests in CDRWin anymore,
Disc4You bought the name and started to develope CDRWin5.
Since Goldenhawk didn´t sold the source code, and CDRWin is
outdated, Disc4You asked the team from Padus (Disc4You distributes
the Padus products in germany) for their burning engine.
That is why CDRWin5 (the first version) is using the pfc.dll
from the Padus DiscJuggler.
Mr. Engelmann told me about Disc4You started to build up their
own writing engine and so soon CDRWin5 will get the new engine
from Disc4You.
CDRwin v.3.8 and v.4.0 had features that are missing in v.5
of this program. Cue Sheets and some other neat features.
Mr. Engelmann promised, that this features will be implemented
soon again, so CDRWin5 can replace the old versions totally.
Since the developement of CDRWin5 is one of the top prioritys of
Disc4You there will come out new version frequently.
Because of this CDRWin5 will get an auto update function soon.
Till that you can check the Disc4You ftp (ftp.disc4you.de) and
see on which date the file was uploaded.
Yeah, so the story about CDRWin5 being developed from Goldenhawk
is a fake. Goldenhawk sold the name to Disc4You and they will
push the developement forward. Since they cannot use the source
of CDRWin4, it will take some time till the product is back
to the quality of the version from GoldenHawk, but I am pretty
sure that they will gain this level pretty soon ..
Still some questions remaining:

Some questions:

Why isn't this posted at hxxp://www.goldenhawk.com ?
Why does hxxp://www.cdrwin.info (stated in CDRWIN 5.0 as the http address of the program) redirect to hxxp://www.disc4you.com/start.html (hxxp://www.goldenhawk.de also redirects to there) where CDRWIN 5.0 isn't even mentionned?

Why should one care about ancient (3.8/4.0) or utterly crappy programs (5.0)... simply use something else. You wont have much luck with any of them.
I didn't say I was using them ... I was wondering what the hell went on with CDRWIN ...

Most of its here

If u search the forum u will find several threads about the very subject, with some interesting information.
The information is a lot more interesting than the software!

Thats my opinion anyhow! :D

well.. let`s try.... to answer the first one...
the name "cdrwin" is not owned by GH as company.. but it
belongs to the founder of GH.. "C".. he got the boot..
then.. the name was sold to get even with GH. to engelman media

and the reason(probably) to GH not are explaining the situasion..
(etc.. with a forward link) is coz.. GH have lost realy big bucks..
in royalty.. (they are claiming cdrwin is hold by GH)
and maybe aren`t exactly proud of themself..

Yes.. cdrwin/cdrdao-cdrecord-mkisofs=? hmm...

;)
