CDRW problem

I have a Yamaha 6416s burner, on WinXPPro, and use Nero5599.
My problem is that my burner or software cant recognize any CDRW media?
I can burn with CDR disks... but any CDRW disks are just not recognised? Just get a "No media inserted, drive is empty" message??
what gives?
I have updated my firmware.

Did it work bevore updating the Yamaha firmware? If it's so, then try a "downdate".

Have you tried various brands of CDRW? Try a type which is recommended at Yamahas homepage.

@ joripe surely they will only burn at whatever the write speed of the media is !? if itsd 4 x no matter if you have a 48x cdrw burner it will only burn at whatever it states it is in this example case 4 x :)

Joripe and Poko are right, my "old" plex 8432T can burn only 2-4x media only!
Some time ago i bought CD-RW"s 80min 4-10x and are not "recognized" from my Plex.

hokay :D yer learn something new daily here, thats what ya get with not having a CDRW burner from the word GO and gettin one later in life *sigh*
:D

When my memory functions allright, a Yamaha 6416 burns CDRW at 4 speed.
In my humble opionion CDRW media 1-4 and 4-10 speed should be suitable.......

Is the CD-RW a formatted CD or unformatted? If it's formatted for Packet Writing then regular CDR program won't read it.

If the CD-RW isn't formatted then Nero and all CDR programs should have no problem reading it, and you can burn it like regular CD-R with option to Quick-Format (Erase) and burn again and again.
