Woody the problem was the cdr's I was using i tried another brand and it burned just fine . I was having problems with the Memorex 700 mb 80min 48x blanks, im using nero ver. 5 with a lite on burner. I updated the firmware and that didnt help unfortunately i wasted about 15 blank cdr's fixing the problem. Thank you for your quick response.

my ADVISE as always is ....USE A CDRW and practice burn and save on wasted disks !!! :)

maby we should have Use a CDRW or DVDRW for practice/test burns as a sticky woody !? :)

If Your Drive supports it, get hold of Kprobe or CDR Doctor and scan for error rate.

Where the media and drive are not well matched, as the speed increases (any speed above about 18x starts low and increases, to keep the RPM within acceptable limits), then the error rate will show an upward trend.

Since 16x is the highest CLV speed of most drives, and is at about the starting speed expected with modern media, it will usually produce a more robust burn than higher speeds, particularly if it "starts good, goes bad" - though even at CLV speeds, some media/drive combinations show increasing errors.

Terminology:
CLV = Constant LINEAR Velocity - the track passes under the laser at the sam speed, by varying the RPM, faster for the smaller circumference near the center, slower for the outer edge.
CAV = Constant ANGULAR Velocity - the CD spins at constant RPM, and the data rate increases as it passes from center to edge.
P-CAV = Partial CAV - starts as CAV (max RPM), ands as CLV (limited by transfer rate/electronics)
Zone-CLV = Before CAV writing was possible, higher speed drives used Zone-CLV - eg. a 24x drive would start at 16x, then stop and switch to 20x and then again to 24x - this mode is obsolete!
