CDr/DVD Drive Reading Problems

I recently got a DVD of a friend and i was able to watch some of it until i had to go out,when i got back home and tried watching the rest of it my drive showed that no CD/DVD was inserted. I use PowerDvd to watch DVD's and i have no problem watching other DVD's and my drive does recognise CD's too. This is beginning to annoy me as i was able to play it before. Do i need to download drivers for the drive or try searching for modes that can be enabled and disabled? The other thing i have tried finding is how to change the region mode but i could not find it,any help would be very much appreciated.

for DVD drives are no drivers required; simply open and close the tray this may help;
if this won't work you simply got a bad (burned?) DVD from your mate;

changing Region Code is (4x) possible Windows Device Manager in properties of your DVD drive;
