cd to mp3

what is the best proggy for this conversion and what quality should i use to sound the same as the cd???

dont need to burn as i want to store my audio cds on the computer to play at a late dat. would i be better to use somthing like virtual cd??

The minimum bitrate for a good quality is 160 kbs; ideal 192 or maybe 256 but you know more quality will preserve cd sound but will take more mb of your hd.
First step is encode wav files to mp3, I like for this "lame encoder", you can use with EAC
To play in the PC didn't try virtual cd, but you can use winamp, this freeware program, lets you build playlist you can make by artist, kind of music, albums, etc.

There are a lot of programs which can "rip" a cd to mp3.
It depends what you want.
If you're looking for a good freeware prog why not try CDex
(just type in CDex in Google). It uses the best mp3 encoder around: Lame Encoder.
Quality? I think encoding @192 kbs is very acceptable.
The lower the less harddisk space but also lesser quality.
