CD-audio not working, Help please

Messed my win2k and now my cd-rom works with data but no audio-cd players work. Looked for M$ and elsewhere but no luck. ANY ideas welcome

What doesn't work? Auto start of your soft player? Or it's playing, but you don't hear the sound?

Did you try an other CD, maybe the first one is copy protected?

Ripping (AC aspi) OK, but playing not

Thanx for reply, but
The problem is: Windoze CD-player (or any other) won't start:

Error: MCI (CD Audio)-service or CD-Rom -driver not responding.

What .dll or part of registry might be corrupted ??

never heard, no idea, maybe another member can help;
Did you installed something during last time?

Hi Jodo
I had a similar thing try starting in safe mode then take out all audio drivers one by one then re-boot, if this does not work try the leads from the cd rom to the sond card ( 2 little grey ones)
these may be at fault.

happy hunting gan.
