CCE 2.66 settings

Hi, i've seen that settings between 2.50 & 2.66.01.02 are quite different, i'd like to know how u are using them (how did u set them in tests u are making or made), just for an idea about how should i set them.
For example what do u set for makin non anamorphic SVCD from an anamorphic DVD rip, or makin an anamorphic SVCD from a DVD rip & so on.
Like a little guide useful for start testing this new release
Thx

I use DVD2SVCD for my SVCD's using cce 2.50. It will NOT accept 2.66 as a suitable encoder due to its inability to accept *.ecl files. My only use of 2.66 has been in trialing it and comparing output to 2.50. But I'm sure there will be lots of others that can help you.

Thx ChickenMan

During ur tests did u see remarkable differences in quality between these two releases?
I'm interested in makin SVCD

Thx

After completing some tests between the 2 versions I tend to get cleaner images from 2.66.01.02.

As far as I can see they have replaced the standard "noise reduction" slider with the 3 now available in 2.66.01.02. They can provide better noise reduction than 2.50 and can cope with more types of noise (there is now a direct way of combatting both mosquito and contouring noise) but the new settings require a little more tweaking depending on the type of noise in your source.

After all is said and done I stuck with 2.66.01.02 with all optional filters off and "flat part priority" set to 5 for standard DVD film source material.

If I need noise reduction I still use Convolution3D and tweaking the settings depending on the type and density of noise. I have yet to find a better all round solution than this.

As Vaporousgas said, the 2.66 can be a better than 2.50 but the differences are very small indead. Encoding time for 2.66 compared to 2.50 is 14% slower as well.

If you want the utimate SVCD, go with Canopus Procoder, but have a dual 2.6gHz m/b or a lot of time.
