capturing video from dvd

can some one tell me what software to use if you want to capture a 10 minute sequence off a dvd and the make the file say divx5 a much smaller size for the video on the hard disk ,say 4x6 window?

Rip the VOB file off the DVD with smartripper (if you know the Chapter the 10min bit is in, just rip the chapter) then convert to DivX following the DDVD to DivX tutorial in the Tutorial section.
