Capacity only 88mb on my Lite-On Drive

When using any CD-writing software I have (Nero, Disc Juggler etc.) My blank CDs are only being shown as 88mb capacity.

Same media in My Pioneer DVD writer work fine. I can burn with this but at only 8x instead of 40x with my Lite-On....

I have tried all basic stuff like removing re-installing software, ForceASPI etc. but nothing has worked...

Please Help.

The LiteOn's can burn up to 99min 5 sec onto 99min CDR's. with Nero. In Nero, go to File / Prefferences / Expert Settings and tick Enable Overburning and enter 99min 5 sec in the boxs. Your burner and every other burner will only see 90min and 99min CD's as 80min CDR's, the overburn feature allows them to be burnt to their full capacity.

I understand all of that, but my 80 minute CDRs are working fine in my DVD Writer, but are only showing as 88MB (10 minutes) in my Lite-ON. This happens whatever software I use and has nothing to do with not having selected Overburning...

Any more (useful) help would be appreciated. Thanks...

I have done that already. One of the first things I tried.
Then tried Force ASPI after asking a friend, but this hasn't helped.
Then thought it might be bad media, which is when I tried it in my DVD writer and saw that the media was fine....

Any more ideas ???

Sorry, miss-read your 88MG as 88min !

I would try the burner in someone elses computer if you can, that would eliminate burner hardware/firmware problems. What othere IDE device if any do you have on the same cable?, if the DVD burner, then remove it so the LiteOn is on its own cable.

Have you just installed the LiteOn or has has this condition just happened?

88mb Capacity
I don't know why it displays 88mb but if you wish you can select "Preferences" then set the Markers to whereever you want. By default

Yellow Marker = 74:00:00
Red Marker = 80:00:00

8X MAX
If the CD-R you have only rates 8X then 8X is the MAX you can burn. If the CD-R rates 40X and your burner can burn 40X then change the "Write Speed" to whatever the MAX the CD-R and Burner can burn.

IOW, even if your burner can burn at 40X but the CD-R is 2X then 2X is the max you can burn. If not the CD-R and Burner then could be bug in program, or firmware.
