can't play avi's

please help

ever since i had my ati all in wonder card installed, i can't play xvid or divx files anymore; i can hear sound ok and can play mpg files ok; i open those avi's with gspot and it says that all the video/audio codecs are there, so i dont know what can be the problem

thanks

Try turning off Hardware decoding in what ever player your using to play the AVI's with. Have you installed the latest ATI drivers ?

chickenman; i use bsplayer and powerdvd, but i can't find any options to turn off hardware decoding

i know it's related to the software that came with the ati aiw card b/c when i uninstalled the software, it did play xvid files ok

but now when i had the card transferred to brand new computer, it plays ok but after 15 minutes or so the player crashed (both with bsplayer and powerdvd)

in terms of updating the latest ati drivers, how do u know if what u have is the most updated? i mean, after the video card was installed, windows detected new hardware and prompt you to install new driver; i used the cd that came with the whole ati package as source (i have ati aiw 9600 pro)
i have been to ati website, but i'm absolutely confused with the terminology they have ; i have aiw 9600 pro, but i don't recognize that on their site's options for drivers
