can't copy vcd? volumelabel w/ no data?

sorry guys, i guess i'm too new to this stuff. The vcd can play on players, but won't play on my computer, and explorer shows no files. Only shows it as volumelabel. I'm trying to copy this VCD. I tried with CloneCD, Nero, Alcohol120%, and none of them worked. Alcohol120% showed that the VCD had 10 tracks, when it plays in the player it shows 4 tracks. Can someone help me out?

Welcome to the forum, hope you enjoy your stay.

Get yourself IsoBuster. Use it to extract the AVSEQ01.DAT file (and other *.dat files if they exist) as an MPEG (right click avseq01.dat and select "Extract but filter only M2F2 mpeg frames") then burn back to a VCD using VCDEasy or Nero.

A VCD has two sessions, one for data and one for video. Windows Explorer shows the data session, while the 4 tracks shown to your player are the video tracks in the video session.
The ten tracks shown by Alcohol are a bit puzzling though, normally the data session of a VCD consists of just one track. Maybe someone has added dummy tracks to the VCD sturcture, so it couldn't be duplicated easily?
Can you provide an Alcohol log, or reanalyse the disk stucture with something like ISObuster?

Yep, thats for a "normal" VCD that everything is normally able to read it. But since CloneCD, Nero, Alcohol, etc cant read it (therefore Windows also) then its probably a HongKong VCD where they scramble the TOC to confuse most programs. A simple copy protection. IsoBuster has never failed for me yet with these type of VCD's.

Thank you guys very much, and yep the vcds are Asian vcds, probably from Hong Kong. I will go try IsoBuster now.
One more question, if I was to say just want to watch this kind of VCD on the comp. Is there a prog that can find and open the needed files(*.dat) so I can play it?

Every version of Windows has Windows Media Player, it will play them. But if can't from within IsoBuster, you need to extract them to your HD first.
