EZ CD creator platinum and Nero do not mix well. They
have conflicting programming. As last post suggested,
get rid of EZ CD and disable XP's built in Roxio software
(right click on your burner icon, Properties, last tab,
uncheck).

Personally, I would get rid of Nero as well. I know, I know
....I was a big fan of Nero too! It used to be my favorite
burning soft. But under XP, Nero is buggy as hell. Do a
search of this forum, under "Nero" and you will see how
many of us XPers are ditching the software due to Nero's
bugs in XP.

Try NTI Cdmaker or Stomp's RecordNow Max. They both work
bug free in XP and are just as good as Nero, IMHO.

If you must use Nero, it will work in XP. Just be aware that
YOU WILL make a few coasters along the way.

Good Luck!

I have 2 comps at home both running Xp and both with Nero and Clone. One works perfectly and the other has problems with Nero. I have errors saying comunication failed on read and scsi error. I don'd have a scsi device?
Roadworker can you tell me how to disable the inbuilt burning, as I would like to try this before I ditch Nero. As you said it is a very good program outside Xp.

Boondi,

This is how you disable the included burning engine

Rightclick your burner's icon in Windows Explorer and choose "properties".

There you will find a tab on which you can enable/disable the embedded Roxio burning engine. This just makes the burning engine to start manually, e.g. when a program needs this utility.

To completely disable it, you have to spot the IMAPI system service under Administrative tools and set it from manual to disabled.

Here is the path...Control panel>Administrative Tools>Component services>Local services>Imapi, double click>on the general tab>startup type, choose disabled>apply.

After disable, its a good thing to install ASPI first then install
Nero or other softwares.

But beware of CloneCD. Its a great app, but you must install it AFTER Nero for it to work properly. Nero seems to overwrite some
drivers for CloneCD, but not the other way around.
