cannot read dvd drive in nero/shrink?

hey everyone,
im a new user to dvd backup and i used the shrink method.
i finally did everything (decrypter etc.) and i was up to the screen in shrink where u "select backup target" and "select target image file".
well, in the backup target part it only has "iso image file" or "iso image file and burn with decrypter"
i wanted to burn with my nec 2100 ad drive but it wasnt there!!!

alternatively, i went to nero (5 i think) and it came up with the wizard screen.
only cd was available to choose! (not ddcd or dvd!)
so i went to "choose recorder" - it only had image recorder!

i am VERY new to dvd backup and i cant seem to select the nec dvd drive no matter what i do... can someone please help? thanks

Start with Tips for beginners... Dvd backups you may also want to update nero and last but not least a nerohistory.log file. Which you will find it the Nero file. I say the nero file because you left out a lot of info which we should see in the log file.

Nero 5 can burn CD's only (...and unfortunately- 5.0.4.8 is the best Nero ever), not DVD's- for that you need Nero newer than 5.5.
Since shrink uses Nero to burn, its failure is self explicable...

backup to ISO and burn with DECRYPTER using ISO mode choose the iso and burn did you check the dropdown in selection of burners in DECRYPTER to select your dvd burner !?

and by any slim chance are you using -r media instead of +r media !? isnt the 2100 a +r burner unless patched !?
