Can you run 3 CD/DVD drives without problems??

Hey gang I got a DVD burner for Xmas but I don't want to give up my CD burner (faster audio burns) I have a DVD-Rom I'm going to want to keep for DVD copies. If I use an internal IDE card can I run all 3 without getting any conficts??

Unless you have 2 hard drives, you could do it with no card.

I'd start with the HD as primary master, and probaly both writers on the secondary and the DVD-ROM as primary slave.

If you use a card, you may have to use it for the HD, as some cards are not good with writers.

If you fancy a HD upgrade, it may be worth getting a SATA card and SATA hard disk, or a RAID card (I've seen ATA RAID's unbelievably cheap) and using a pair of hard drives in RAID.

On the button <> as described use Raid

I have 2 hard drives on Raid
DVD Burner DVD ROM + 2 CDRW burners on IDE
& I agree put the ROM on opposite IDE to the burner!

I have the same setup as The-poacher. 2 40gb hard drives on a pci raid card. A pioneer 105 and plextor 40x cdrw on one ide and a sony dvd-rom and lite-on 52x cdrw on the other. Everything works fine.

just wanted to add to what LTR12101B was saying. not only are most cards not good for writers, but they're not good for optical drives in general. they'll typically lock optical drives in PIO mode.

leave the other burner and the dvd player as slave . run the new burner as master with ide cable direct to mother and should have no probs...I don't...i have a dvd player.a cd-rw.and the dvd burner all hooked up no probs here. :p
