Hey, folks... I recently purchased a new Samsung SM-352B combo drive (retail model), and have been quite pleased with it for CD-R(W) and DVD-ROM usage. I do have a question about it, though, and thought to ask this fine forum if anyone has had any experience with this combo drive.
I was curious whether the Samsung SM-352B (http://www.samsung.com/Products/CDDVD_Writer/COMBOHalf_Height/CDDVD_Writer_COMBOHalf_Height_SM_352B_sp.htm) can do overburns or not. Can I write perhaps 850 MB of data onto a 700 MB CD? I know more and more CD-R(W) burners are capable of overburning reasonably safely, but I wouldn't want to try it on this new drive without knowing whether it can be done or not.
Does anyone have any experience with overburning a Samsung combo drive, or know where I might find some information whether it can be done or not? I've read some reviews online and none specify whether this combo drive can overburn or not. (I'm sure that if I contacted Samsung that they would deny it can overburn, or at least say that if I try to overburn and it fries the laser, then they wouldn't honor its warranty.)
Thanks for your help in advance!...
