Can no longer read 700Mb avi files

My Teac-DW224e CD-RW/DVD in my Compaq 900 laptop reads everything but large avi files. This just started. When copying, the time to copy starts around 9-10 minutes, get down to around 6 minutes then jumps to 180 minutes and the drive is no longer spinning. Any ideas? Thanks

Hi rtren, Welcome to our forum!

me thinks, it's a typical problem when you try to rip/copy a CDR which is:
- faulty burned
- overburned
- written on bad media

Thank you for the welcome. I have this problem with many discs of different manufacturers and all my avi discs have loaded in the past. They do load from an external drive I borrowed.
