Burning trouble noname burner

Hallo
I have trouble to burn music images. In nero and blindwrite the burner is feeding out the disk in the middle of the burning. They also do coasters. In alcohol 120% the program complains about the image and feed out the disk too. But recordnow max is working if you do a image on the fly, when you have the original cd. I havent tried to make a image file with recordnow max and then burned it. The burner is a noname and is working with win xp drivers. In control panel, device manager its a IDE-CD R/RW 16*12A

Nero 6 and Recordnow are two that do NOT like each other - if it's Nero 5.5, you might get away with it, but recording programs can be extremely badly behaved toward each other.

If using anything other than Windows XP's own CD-Burning, you should normally disable the IMAPI service, or at least uncheck the XP recording facility for the drive.

What sort of percent done?
Is it failing on the inital stage (power calibration) or is it part way through the burn?

If using unbranded silver top media, hold it up to the light and check for pinholes - I've had media with a damage spot that will chop the burn.

Oh yes, that reminds me, try a test/simulate - in Nero, that generally requires you to turn OFF underrun protection in order to make the test option available.

I tried nero 5.5.10.35 today whitout the wizard, it worked. In alcohol 120 % it complains about "mode select error". Does anyone know what that is?
