Burning files over 2GB

Hi

I want to be able to burn some files over 2GB to dvd-r. I normally use iso/multisession in nero 5.5 to do my burning, but AFAIK iso can't take files over 2 GB. I don't want to split the files up, as I would like to be able to use them direct from the dvd-r. I would also like to be able to add further files at a later date.

Nero tells me to use udf, but that it doesn't support multisession. I know that you are supposed to use udf by leaving the session open and then writing more stuff directly, rather than by closing and starting a new session, but does anybody know if nero 5.5 supports this? The manual says udf must be written to a blank disc, which suggests not. Also the option to finalize the disc is selected and grayed out. There is no option to not close the session at all. There is also no multisession tab.

Either way, I would rather not use packet writing at all, as many people have said that it's unreliable. Apparently if a serious error (crash or power failier) occurs during writing then you lose the whole disc, whereas with iso/multisession you only lose the current session. (This is important as I usually delete files after burning to make space, hence losing earlier burns is **BAD**.)

The main question is this: does anybody know a way to burn files over 2GB to dvd-r without splitting or using packet writing, allowing further files to be added at a later date without endangering previously burned data.

If this could be done with free (but reliable) software that would be a big bonus.

Thanks alot
Adrian

From what I've read they say Burnatonce can do it, with a lot of work. Or they talk highly about a free program called DeepBurner. Well I haven't tried DB and I still waiting on a free serial (from the maker of the program) to make the DVD side of BAO work. Also I don't burn multisession DVDs, I have in the past done CDRs with Nero. Hope that helps and let us know how you make out. :)
