burning files onto cdr for dvd player

Hey I'm new to this so please use terms I can understand..........I have a hewert pakerd and it has a dvd player a cd burner and windows xp.....I need to know how to take my kazza files and download them on to a disc that is usable for my dvd player.....I treid once but it said the files were mpeg and they neede to be mpeg 4 or somthin........can I do this without buying any new softwear...........if anyone could help I would greatly benfit from it

When u say my player do u mean like windows media player or quick time player.........U are rite though when I trie to burn them and convert them to a dvd it gives me a data disc or jus burns a video disc for the computer................thank u for replying

are these MPEG files or avi files !?

avi files need conversion before they will playback in a dvd player unless its a KISS divx compatible player

MPEG you should be able to burn with NERO or any other burn software thats capable of burning VCD/SVCD'S

simply select to burn a VCD and drag the mpeg over and burn and playback in dvd player !

you need to check it with G-SPOT or sumthing to identify the file format

I think you guys have it right, he has a HP computer witha CD burner. He wants to play some files on his DVD Player.

As Viper said, use GSPOT to see if the files are MPEG or AVI type files. Then follow the appropriate tutorial to convert these to a VCD or SVCD (you only have a CD burner so you cant make DVD's) http://www.cdrbase.com/forumdisplay.php?forumid=120
