i have tried to burn cd's on several freeware burners and one bought program. they all do the same thing. it will start burning and part way through it will give an error message and the disc is messed up and can't be used again for music. all my music i have i think is mp3. does the music have to have a certain file extension or something. it seems when i first downloaded some of this music i did burn a cd. then i think i changed all the files to mp3's. i know nothing about this stuff. it has to be something simple. can anyone help?

i copied files from the net, you know, shared files. put them into files on my harddrive and select them and play them on my computer. i want to burn some of this on a cd. i have windows 98 and a matshita cd-rw (8x/4x)cw7585 burner. i found a freeware software burner that is really good and easy to use, cd burner xp pro. i tried to look at the music files but couldn't see the full extension. like i said i changed all the music files to mp3's not knowing what i was doing. the error message i got was "error 102 drive report on error during burn". should my music files be wave or something else? thanks for your help.
