Burners used by other application

trying to burn a cd and have both cd-r and dvd-r, utilizing nero 6. Program tells me the burners are being used by another application. I use cntrl-alt-del to find out what is running and there isn't anything but nero showing. Is there another way to find out what application is keeping nero from burning. I need to burn a data disc. Any advice at this point would be helpful..

Not made the upgrade to XP myself yet - I gather one thing you often have to do is disable XP's own burn engine.

At a minimum, by disabling XP's recording option for the drive (this only stops XP's NATIVE recording functions from using it, other software still can).

Or more extreme, by disabling XP's "IMAPI" recording service.

Some notes here

Couldn't find a "worked example".

PS. Nero 6 is also rather buggy, but initial reports seem to be showing the latest release (6.0.0.23) to be better than most. If you have an older release, Updating may be useful - not so sure this isn't a problem that was fixed in a previous update.

And welcome to the forum.... I've moved the post to a more appropriate area.
It helps if you post in the area that best matches the topic, and if you specify versions of any software involved.... and please don't be a stranger after your problem is solved (please excuse grotty poetry!)

Do you have any Packet Writing software installed (DirectCD, InCD, FileCD)?!

this error message appears also, if you have Nero 6 and the PX burning engine (RecordNow, Sonic DVD ...) installed;

Thanx

I downloaded the update to Nero 6 and it appears to be working fine. Also it has a pretty good media player in the update. I'll have to try my luck at DVD burning. It just seems like a lot of work. Wish there was a all in one package that was simple. Once again, thanx you guys.
