burner: advice needed

Hi all,

Need an advice on which burner to choose from this list:

LG 32/12/40
Liteon 40/12/48
Philips 40/12/48
Plextor 40/12/40
Aopen 40/12/48

Of course, the Lite-on is a big temptation as it's good and also much cheaper than Plextor's one...
Any advice much appreciated. tHX !

have a better look around the forum. This subject has been taxed a while.
In anycase, Lite-On will serve you just as well as the Plextor, but with extra cash left over for some other goodies =)

From the list you specified choose Plextor. But since it is overpriced enough, I would recommend you buy a TEAC or a Liteon...

LOL
Thanks for all your comments... very appreciated...

Will go for a Liteon 40X... for €100 it's not a bad price, I think.

Liteon is very good, but check also the TEAC. It is covered by a 2 year warranty and it can handle mass production (hundreds of copies without problems)...

the Lite-On's here are covered with a 2-3 year warranty & I know they have no problems with mass copying (even one after another).
Same with the plextors. Teac also. So far both my plex & lite-on have done over 600 copies.

Ok shadoe, I have not tested the Liteon and I cannot insist on this. If you tested and found it ok, then you are right. ;)

I bought finally the 40X liteon and I have to say it's magic.

It burns everything.... even Warcraft 3 and SF2.5 ar copied without any trouble....

And audio CD at 40X is really a must...
So cool !

Excellent! Just as good as the 40X,but faster of course!48X Cd media could be a problem for a while.;)

If you wanna backup cd protected games (safedisc 2.5.021& SecuROM *new*). I advise you go with the LiteOn or Asus models. The Plexy drives can't make a "perfect" backup of safedisc 2.5.021 (C&C Renegade, Medal Of Honor, Serious Sam:SE). In a recent hardware CloneCD read test, the Asus 32x, 40x& 48x outperformed the LiteOn's and they are much cheaper in price as well. Do some serious research BEFORE you dedide on these 2 models.

Hi all,

What's the difference between reading a whole with a Liteon 163 and a Liteon x40 (for exemple) ?

the quality is not the same regarding copying ??

ps:
i've a LTD163 but not liteon cd-recorder...
but i think buy a liteon :)

@Joripe

Thanks...

I always tough the Liteon LTD163 was better (faster) to reading cd-protection than Liteon CD-recorder !

but perhaps i'm wrong ... :p
