broken floppy drive & norton ghost, making boot cd

okay, my floppy drive is broken... is there anyway to make a bootable cd rather than a bootable disk with norton ghost? the only boot image i have is the one from my win xp cd. i think i can extract it. any ideas? TIA

Hey p0rkus, yeah, I recall that there is a function in the Ghost setup for creating a bootable cd that works just like a win98 boot disk. It's in the instructions for installing the program (the Windows installation stage before you boot to dos and run).

I know this because I've got one of those bootable cds in the toolbag from the last time I played with Ghost. Give a yelp if you need somebody to help retrace the process. Cheers!

Nice question p0rkus, one I was about to ask myself, came across this site if yer want to DIY the task..

h**p://www.nu2.nu/

Not only Ghost but a host of other boot tasks, *lol* not much use since your floppy is broke.. just realised that... :)

On another note, when I try to use the ghost bootable floppy with pcDOS on it to make the image bootable (this is suggested by NORTON on their site and in documentation!) I get a system error, --> fault with CD..

Any suggestions? can I use the win98se boot floppy to make the image bootable? have one lying around..

Thanks in advance for any help.

You've got it, Strahlen, use the Win98 bootflop It works perfectly.

The moddisk looks very intriguing. Could take a whole Saturday afternoon to get a handle on all the tweaks.
