blue screen

What would cause XP Pro to have problems with DVD rom and CDRom after flashing burner bios?

System worked ok but had notice to update a04 bios from 1.20 to 1.32 for correct 2x burning on dvd's. I figured I might as well do the tdk at the same time. after update had notice to restart windows.

After restart comp restarted everytime it said it found new CDRom or DVD drive. disabled shutdown on blue screen. now get blue screen of death 0x00000035 checked under microsoft page I dont quite unstand some of the choices answers. like device is calling for?

DVD player is master TDK is slave on 2nd ide ASUS A7V333. I tried just one burner left other one powered down and when window boots looks fine until it says found new hardware then blue screen 0x00000050.

tried both just DVD without tdk and tdk without DVD get blue screen either way mostly just these two codes.

comp works fine and stable if I take power cords out of both drives and run comp without Roms so when I go to work on it today I will use it without drives to get work done.

besides code get something about physical dump

The results from a bad flash? Try to get hold of previous versions of the binaries for the devices & re-flash both units (plug in & do one at a time).

for an update

I had the comp running and pluged in the DVD burner ran add new hardware and everything worked fine. tdk still doesnt work when I plug this in and run add hardware get blue screen. later tonight I will try reflashing tdk from dos (if I can) or try to see if burner will work in other comp with Gigabyte board and reflash there.

Correct one problem still have another

First got return email from tdk support. Looks like some cut and paste out of a tech manual. Talked about removing drivers in safe mode their fix is not not even close to the problem. check autoexec etc.

I upgraded bios in a04 because X Copy software I purchased stated isnt stable with lower bios rev's when I fix this I will let everyone know how I like X Copy.

DVD drive works fine now. Took TDK 40x and put in gigabyte machine in the 32X tdk place this worked and 40x burner found, so I flashed it again. burner worked fine in this comp and so does 32x. used both comps all day no problems (without tdk installed in asus) so before leaving I hooked up tdk and started asus comp still had blue screen after it found cdrom. top line had "no more irp stack etc" along with 0x00000035 stop code. after hours in trouble shooting xp books found way to edit reg to increase stack size. refired up comp. blue screen appeared but "no more irp stack" gone but stop code changed to 0x0000008E so when I left this morning I unhooked TDK to get comp to work.

because of the help posts above I was able stumble onto some new ideas

You guys have any more ideas

I see no way to avoid a new clean installation, if you want to use theTDK in this PC.
A last possibility you can try witout TDK plugged in.
Open devicemanager and deinstall even hidden devices.( you have to open this several times.
After this clean the registry with a utility like regclean and try again.

Final results and fix

Ended up moving all data files to other hard drive and formatted first drive. Reinstalled win XP pro and download all of the lastest drivers. Everything up and running great. TDK and A04 working and found pinnacle released a full new version for the pro one board that works better without crashing. Had beta release before worked but crashed XP every once in a when shutting program down Pinnacle also had you use 2000 version software and had problems.

Burned DVD full 720 x 480 video from my video tapes. Will be giving DVD copies to brothers and sister of home movies of us growing up. The little special Xmas gift you just can not buy.

Thanks for all the help again!!

Why upgrade to 1.32....Best official firmware is 1.31...I know, I've tried them all. There is a way to change back to 1.31. I'm using 1.20 2x 4 all with no problems.
