BlindWrite Suite 5.0.7.122 Two Questions

Hi Everyone, I'd like to wish you all a very Happy New Year.

Thought I'd try Blindwrite again after many years to backup some of my more awkward CDs and I've downloaded V 5.0.7.122 trial to see what it's like.

A bit of a change for me after all this time but a couple questions need an answer.

First of all the program does the job OK but after reading the disc, just as the progress bar has got to the end, it reboots the computer??

Then, setting it to write the B5T file it has produced again it does it but I can't get it to write at the speed I've set it for. It goes for the max speed every time which I distrust on all CD burners.

Help on these two issues from those in the know please.

To reboot: Pls can you post full log ? (In App dir)

Speed: There is no way how to slow down. But they are working on it

HI R!Co

Thanks for your reply, here is the log file.

Thanks for your reply.

No BSOD, BlindWrite came to the end of the reading and simply re booted the computer. I expected the whole CD reading to be a waste of time but after the re-boot there was the file ready waiting and it wrote to disk perfectly OK.
This happened twice, both after reading CDs that were quite heavily copy protected.

Shall I try the reading again with a normal unprotected CD and see if the same thing occurs?

Other software is: -

NTI CD-DVD Maker V6.5, CloneCD V 4202, Click 'n Burn V 2.0.763

Well BW now has problems with this reboot but this happen only to few persons. Try normal cd. And also check if u use winxp WindowsDir\MiniDump\ if there is some file from date of reboot if yes pls send it to me or upload it here.

I tried to copy a data (jpg pics) BlindWrite did see the source disc in the drive Plextor CD-ROM PX-40TS but rebooted the computer without reading it. Tried again, no luck and same result

Changed the source drive to the Toshiba DVD-ROM SD-R1002 and BlindWrite read the disc and produced and saved the file as asked.

Changed BlindWrite to burn to CDR mode and the Plextor CDR PX-w124TS did the job, albeit at a faster speed than asked for (I can live with that)

Questions? is the re-booting after reading the disc as per my original post due to BlindWrite not liking SCSI devices (Plextor CD-ROM PX-40TS)? Why then did it read two discs OK but today it refused to read a simple data CD?

There is only the successful Toshiba/Plextor details in the log file but I'll include it as it has a few ??? in it.

I'm on M$ Windows 2000 Professional (Service Pack 4) if any other user has had the same troubles.

Many thanks for taking an interest in this but it looks as if I'll be trying not buying!

There's no easy answer for me with this program then R!Co, guess I'll have to go back to my earlier version if I can find it!

I can't remember the version number but must be all of 4/5 years ago and the only thing I remember about it was that it had on the reading side a "nibble" mode.

I had some clipart discs that I was afraid were getting too much use. The risk of them being damaged was high so I needed backup copies. BlindRead read them (after some time) and BlindWrite wrote them OK.

No other program at that time would look at the copy protection then even CloneCD couldn't do them.

Best wishes

Geoff

Found my old version................BlindWrite Suite v0.99.1.3

Will this version work on M$ Windows 2000 R!Co?

Found Version BlindWrite v1.1.0.0 as well, would that work better?
