BioStar M7VIT Pro. onboard AUDIO device

Does anyone have experience with motherboard has built-in AUDIO? I am building a new system and having problem with the AUDIO device, and I can't find any jumper/option to toggle the built-in Audio ON/OFF.

The motherboard is Biostar M7VIT Pro. and this is what the manual says.

- Line-in phonejack and Mic-in jack share with rear Audio out for 6 channels Audio

- 6-channel AC96 codec (change line-in to Back-Audio and Mic-in to Bass/Center Out by Audio utility)

And sets of jumpers to switch between Front/Back connector, and CD connector). I just installed Win XP to test it out and it reports no Audio device. On other system (new one too) I installed a sound card but don't know how to disable the onboard.

*Both* systems are new built with same motherboard M7VIT Pro, and both have same Audio device problem.

I am too new to XP and never had motherboard with built-in Audio, Video before to have any experience, and the manual doesn't have any information, no trouble shooting page.

TIA

if you will not use the onboard sound, disable "Onboard Sound" in the BIOS settings;

if you want to use the onboard sound, go to VIA's homepage and download their sound drivers;

Audio driver: http://downloads.viaarena.com/drivers/audio/ComboAudio_A1u350b.zip

you may also find these sound drivers at Biostar's homepage;

GREAT to know I have two options to try, and it sounds it's what I need. I already downloaded few audio drivers for Win2K and XP but haven't installed it, and will check your link to make sure I get the correct driver.

Thanks!

P.S. The motherboard also came with a CD and it mentions the CD contains all drivers for the motherboard. I did install them but not so sure if it installed the audio driver or not (didn't seem to mention audio).
