BIG Problems with my Pioneer 106 DVD Burner

When I first bought my DVD burner I only made 1 coaster, if it was a movie or game using DVD-R's.

Now since I updated my firmware to the 1.6 at the Pioneer site, I've had nothing but trouble.

I bought a tub of 50 Databank dvdr's. And I've made about 20 coasters with them. I'm just using the normal burning programs I normally use, but most of the time they end up being bad burns :(

What happens is, alot of the time, it will just keep burning, well you think it does, but it has really stopped. But the burner light is still on. And you can't cancel your burn and you can't close Record Now max.
I can't even eject the disc out. I have to push CTL + ALT + DEL, and close it manually.

This happens 99% of the time when I get a bad burn.

Now I'm not sure if it's the discs or what because I've never tried Databank before.

Now I was wondering has anyone else had any problems with the same model burner and firmware ?

Any help would be much appreciated thanks.

Well, I tried making a back up of this movie called You've got Mail. I tried 4 DVDR's 3 DATABANKS and 1 Shintaro, and all of them were frisbees.

Then I thought I would try my Verbatim DVD-RW, and it worked perfect straight away.

But the thing is, I used Shintaro all the time before I updraded the firmware to 1.6 on my dvd burner and never had any probs with it,

That's why I thought it could be the firmware, as I've never used it on burners before and wasn't sure if I should use it or not.

So I thought I'd ask with some of you's guys with the same burner and firmware to see if any of you's have had a problem like this with the same burner ?

Dont think i would be the Firmware..
i use that firmware and it works fine for me.
did you use the 106 fw?
i would say 100% its the Discs
i have had tubs of 50 where the first 20 are fine and the last 30 were coasters. Data bank are most the time good but if i was you i would spend the extra cash and get Ritek 4x.. there $2.30 or $2.40
there the best you can get in the spindles for a decent price.. nearly 100% very low error. You will be glad you paid the little extra. i have learnt the hardway YOU GET WHAT U PAY FOR
i sold my A04 caus it was spitting out coasters thought it was stuffed only to find out later that the disc were dodgy and i wasted $300.00 on dodgy melony 1x discs!! thats back when every DVD-R was over $3.00

Thanks for the reply DVD ;)

So where can I get these Ritek Discs from for that price ?

PM me or E-mail me if you like at johnmiceter@dodo.net.au

thanks.
