Hello.

I'd like to ask you if you know a transcoder that handles correctly the size (4,37 Gb) with a good qualite like InstantCopy. Thanks.

To me Instantcopy makes the best quality. Then comes Clonedvd and Dvd2one. I have'nt tried dvd shrink yet so I don't know about the quality of that program. Anyone in the forum tried all four programs?

I use the recommended settings .
And then i have changed the dvddestsize and the dvddestdisplaysize to 4504mb(4.40gb)
You have to play with them.
First time i changed it to far ,so it was to big.

Know i get these results if i do a movie, the output size is 4,30 GB (4.650.243.685 bytes) So i dont use about 50mb
This i do because sometimes the media is bad at the end.

Same think..., i use raccomended setting and i've increased the dvd destination size but, unfortunately, the final size goes from more 80mb to less 80mb of real DVD capacity (4470/4480).
Any way to set a "more accurate" DVD destination size?

Thanks 4 your precious help...

To make a long story short:

No, there is no way

Sadly InstantCopy is pretty 'famous' for its inability of hitting the size on the spot.
All i can say is they promised to work on this, and afaik they still are...

For now its always a matter of try and error and highly depends on the DVD content and the choosen compression levels.

Sorry i cant tell you something better

Greetnx

I suppose you mean DVD2DVD-R with Cinema Craft Encoder.
In this case it is the best but it is not a transcoder but a really encoder.

Choose Input/Output then choose Mpeg Encoder and GO.

DVD Size with Instant Copy

A 4.7 GB DVD-R is only 4.38 GB.

This may be the reason some have perceived InstantCopy is leaving empty space on the disc - also, with some of the cheaper brands of DVD-Rs, you may desire less than 4 GB being burned, as the outside of the DVD-Rs tend to become unreadable and produce errors or crashes.

What are the best settings please ?

I followed your instructions but it encoded only the main movie, not the entire DVD.

Thanks.

Or if you want the whole DVD (minus unwanted audio tracks) and use CCE to encode, then check out DVD ReBuilder. A simple 1 click quality alternative to the transcoders.
