Best Recorder?

I'm trying to find the best low cost recorder (LG, LiteOn, Samsung and so on...) on the market, to make good copies with no probs a to make images of my original Cd's. I'm finding velocities between 40x and 52x ( high velocity is recomended)

What do you, people, recomend???

Thanks for your cooperations

The-poacher is right....there is no low cost Plextor, unless you talk about old or refurbished. ;)

I have seen 40x LiteOn's go for less that $50.00 USD with a rebate. Not a bad deal on one of the best burners out there! Excellent all around burners that can copy most copy protections out there.

But CSK is correct about Plextors being the best burners. They have an excellent reputation for quality and durability. They are one of the best audio burners out there. But they are also more expensive.

I have one of each, but find myself mostly using the LiteOn. :)

ROTFL... A low coast plextor no such thing. I mean the cost of a refurbished plexcrap is more than a new liteon!!!! So my money is spent on liteon. :D Lets also not forget how picky the plexcrap is with media, so you just keep paying and paying and paying...:D

dxKim,

I too have a Plextor and a Liteon.. both fine drives.. but why the high price for the Plextor, part of that cost might be for support, I had a drive die on me in Ireland.. it was collected by DHL and sent to Germany, within 18 hours it had arrived. I kept tabs of the CDRW making its way across Europe thanks to my serial number, which I could use on the DHL website..

A new drive back out to me within 5 days, no questions asked. To the rest of the posters on this thread ***That's what you're paying for (partly)*** ;) Try that with a Liteon..

>>X<<

PS- Picked up a TDK Thermal CD printer for 150 euro today.. the model is.. TDK LPCW-50, very nice, prints directly to the CD surface, ink like tar, some pics soon.. :)

You know all plextor people say that about the support. But you know what I've owned a burner since 4x and I even owened a plexcrap and you know I never had to return any of them for repair (I sold all of them
working to someone else). I find it funny that you can find a lot of refurbished plexcrap but I haven't found any lite-on. So to me it sounds like you need good support for that over priced plexcrap!!!:D

Since the speed keeps changing so rapidly (pun definately intended), I now just buy cheap Artec's and buy new ones every year or 2; you can get a 48x12x48 for $50-60. Even have mine on the same IDE channel as my Pioneer A04, and still burns like a champ.

Have an old Plextor 16x, and the Artec 32x12x48. The Artec is faster. Both burn consistently, the Artec is a year old, the Plextor is 2 years old.

Im on my 9th burner so far and for the money you cant beat a Lite On. So far on my 40x zero coasters and great read and write speed. I also like my yamaha as it has a 8mb memory and reads scratched cds much better than my Lite On. If your looking to copy everything go with the Lite on for short cash. If you want great audio reproduction go with the yammy.

Make sure u do not buy a rebadged liteon.
You may find not all software supports it.
Some rebadges are great, but some are big fat lame turkeys. ;)

On the subject of best recorder the brand I've got The Wife
has a 100% record at recording...:D
Still getting back if one goes for rebadged liteon the sony is well made unit. Still at the end if you can see which s/w are packaged with each unit Since I've heard some Liter's/rebadged come with Roxio s/w....dam.
