I would also go for the toshiba or sony, as they are what you need for copy protected music files also (lite-ons don't fair too well for that, otherwise it would be my choice).
it should Shoeb. Haven't heard anyone using PX40TW who can't read/write/play what they throw at it.
But CDRW drives SHOULDN'T be used for playing CDs. The lasers used in them are stronger & over longer periods of time can damage the CDs.
Should always use a plain CD/DVD-ROM drive instead.
shadow,
That's the problem with the latest cd protections, the backups WON'T play in a DVD/CD-Rom. The safedisc 2.5.021& SecuROM *new* (Sony) are killers and most of the backups will only play in the cdrw. The LiteOn Lite DVD 163/165& Toshiba SD-M1402 and a very few others can beat the safedisc factor (ATIP).
using a few, though mainly use Sony DDU1621 (with S1p6 flashed firmware).
Also have Lite-On 12x DVD, Toshiba 6x DVD (no cd-rom drive. only have those at work, almost every brand there).
Well guys i have to agree with catachresis the Plex is the BEST though i have not got me a DVDrom yet i will have to go out and get me a Liteon 165 as i use clone a lot for PSone titles and since i now have a Pioneer DVD-104 i was wondering if it will Clone PS2 DVD titles ...
