BDV316B need Lite-On firmware

I know you guys are the most knowledgeable in this business, so I have a few questions for you.
1. What Litey fw can I use with this drive?
2. Where can I locate it?

I did a search and came up with "0".
I opened the cd-dvdrom and it has a MT1329E chip in it.
As Always any infor will be greatly appreciated.

Your above description was a little vague, but from what I can gather you have a BTC drive. Now, I can't confirm that this is a LiteOn OEM, but I take it you want your drive to be RPC-1 (region free) right?! If not, their are links to other firmwares as well.

Thanks for the region free flash, I had already did this.
My problem is,

1. The cdrom will only read .exe files in PIO mode, and that ets a little too slow. I thought if I could make this a Litey drive then things would get better.

2. BTC has nothing on their web-site about any of this firmware, I visited the Lite-On site and they don't even list their DVDrom drives.

3. The drive is a BTC BDV316B it has a MT1329E chip. It reads fairly well in the DVD format but really sucks in the CDrom.

I went to the site that you suggested and found nothing.

Hmmmm...... the only way you can reflash your drive from a BTC to a LiteOn, is that it really is a LiteOn inside. MediaTek manufacturers chipsets for other manufacturers (other than LiteOn) as well you know.

Personally I have never heard of BTC using LiteOn OEM drives. BTC even manufacturers OEMs for others, like Memorex. Even if it were, you are not going to find this reflashing info on BTC or LiteOns Websites, it will void your warantee. You have to look elsewhere.....

I could not find a single thread on how to reflash your drive at CDFreaks.com. And that is saying a lot, as this is the Net's #1 source for reflashing LiteOn OEM drives. So I think you really have a BTC drive bud.

But reflashing a drive because it contains the same MediaTek chipset as a LiteOn, will give you a nice computer cup holder though.

I'm going to town tomorrow and pick a geniune Litey 166s.
