Backing up

Hey guys, I just got a DVD burner for Christmas and I want to start backing up my games, and I'm wondering how exactly to go about it. I did it all the time with my CD burner and need a bit of help for my DVD backups. I have a Version 5 ps2 and an R-Mod No Solder Mod Chip (I think, as I didn't have to solder it, and I got it way back when to play CD-R backups). I was just wondering if a) It's possible to play backups with my chip and b) Exactly how to do it. I swap with a GS2.
Like, does it matter if it's DVD R or RW? Does the media need to be "+" or "-"? For the original game that I have to swap with, does it have to be larger than the backup to get it to load? Things like that. Oh, and I also use Nero to make my backups, but I don't mind getting something else. Thanks a lot for all your help!

EDIT: Sorry, I forgot to mention, my burner is a Pioneer A06U

A good place to start would be OUR EXTENSIVE tutorials here > http://dvdrbase.com/forumdisplay.php?f=132 :)

Follow our guides to the letter and feel free to ask questions along the way :)

Sorry you never got a response immediately but a whole heap of us took some valuable "Family" time out for xmas :)

It's just a matter of working through the posts that have amassed over the last couple of days :)

Yes it is possible :)

You have said above that you have a v5 PS2. The lasers on v5 consoles and above are able to read both "-" and "+".

Yes, if you are swapping you will need to have a larger sized disc (also known as TOC size). Devil May Cry has the largest TOC.
An old TOC list can be found here http://www.dvdrbase.com/showthread.php?t=25617

I personally use RecordNow Max for DVD based games and CloneCD for CD based games.

Thanks a lot guys. Sorry for being so hasty, but I've made a few coasters and was just getting a little frustrated. Thanks for responding! :D

practice with a DVDRW untill you get the fine art down to perfection then go for the final burn to a DVD-r /DVD+r :)

saves on wasted disks and money :)

About the largest TOC size, according to the TOC size list on the main site, Xenosaga is the largest for North America. Is that thread just old? Or does it have something to do with Xenosaga being a DVD-9? Can a DVD-9 still load my backups when I swap?

The game witht the Largest TOC size would be Devil May Cry. You'll have to get the orignal of that game inorder play backups of other large games.
