just tried a back up project using an enocoder , something i have done many times before with no real problems , however the resulting mpeg2 this time was rejected by tmpgenc authoring as too big to handle , is there a solution to this problem ?

Hi emored, Welcome to our forum! :cool:

me thinks, you should reduce the bitrate while en-/re-/transcoding;
and please report, what your source file was; DVD, DVD image, AVI or MPEG?
And what software did you use for en-/re-/transcoding? Is "enocoder" a software or a typo? :D

Yep, lower the bitrate. Quickest solution would be to run it through ReJig, then author. Another solution would be to author and then run it through say DVDShrink.
