Backing up big movie files???

I have downloaded a few movies off the net and after watching them I would like to burn them to a disc to free up precious hard drive space. The problem is they are too big at 750 megs to fit on a disc. I am currently converting on to a rar file to see if that works.

Any suggestions. I am using nero to buren the discs and winrar to compress the test file

thanks

I doubt WinRAR can compress much more what is already compressed.
You can burn that in a 800 Mb CD, cut the credits, or in the case i'ts an MPEG file, burnt it as a VideoCD in a 700 Mb CD. Of course there are more risky things, like overburning, or burning in Mode2 Form2, trading error correction for space; but this mode isn't recommended for normal data anyway.
Here it's a thread @ doom9 forum about this:

assuming this is an actual vcd file... hard to define what many people think is a video file.

If it is an AVI/DivX file than your are limited to the size of the blank CD as you will have to write it as an ISO compliant/Data CD.
