Back up PAL DVD? Isit possible????

I have a SONY DRU-500A.

I have tried to backup my DVD (PAL) using DVDXCOPY and they play on my PC DVD players but not on my stationary DVD (United which play DVD, SVCD, VCD MP3 and so on)

I have also downloaded a trial of DVD2One (First I ripped it and then used DVD2One and Then followed the instruction from Nero`s Web page how to make a DVD-video.

This also works fine on my PC DVD but not on my stationary DVD player. Is it my player that`s no good for it?

Do not use the DVD Video option in Nero.

Use UDF/ISO mode. It will then not mess with the video files (ie, VOBs). I am in the US, bought some Corrs DVDs from amazon in the UK, and successfully backed them up & burned in Nero.

What kind of DVD R did you use? + or -???

Is it just to select UDF/ISO_DVD and drag the files over???

Used Pioneer 104/A04 burner (firmware 1.31), DVD-R (and -RW), cheap Ritek and other media.

Ripped with SmartRipper. Recalculate in IFOEdit if you do only the movie. Create VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS (all caps) folders, drag and drop in Nero with a UDF/ISO compilation. Burn.

Also copied with DVDXcopy (saved to other folders, did not burn to DVD with this program, used Nero.

What ever I do.... I cant back up DVD`s. I need HELP!

I got a Sony DVD DRU 500 AX

I have now tried to back up different movies that I got.

I have used DVD X Copy. (It worked on my PC)
Not on my stationary DVD in my livingroom. A friend of mine has tested it on his Stationary DVD and it dont work.

Then I tried to make a different backup using DVD2One with the same result.

I have tried to burn it on DVD R- and DVD R+ with the same result.

When I used the DVD 2 One I used Nero for burning the files. I used the DVD-Video to make this DVD. And that also work on my PC dvd players (Both Sony and Creative PC.DVD 12 spins.

But not on my Stationary DVD player.

What am I doing wrong. Because it must be something that I do wrong .... or what?

Can anybody help me here?

How did you burn it? Nero, or DVDXCopy?

DVD2One needs to have the css protection removed first (Smartripper). Then burn with Nero as UDF/ISO compilation.

If you rip only the movie, you need to first fix the IFO files with IFOEdit. Then make the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS (all caps) folders and burn.

I burned with Nero 5.5.10.0.
First I ripped the DVD
Then used the DVD2One and after that I dragged the files into Nero. (UDF/ISO) that did not work at all... I did not edit any of the files that was made with DVD2One.

When I used the wizard in Nero, I dragged all the fiels to the VIDEO_TS like they described in their HOWTO do DVD-VIDEO. That works on my DVD players on my PC but not on the Stationary DVD players.

I cant seem to figur out what is wrong.

You have a flawed version of Nero. Go to their site and download the newest. (Your version had a known issue of not being able to play in settop boxes, only on PCs.)
