Having always used Chickenmans excellent tutorials to convert DVD`s to VCD/SVCD (the man knows his stuff) I thought it it was time to try a divx conversion.
The film is Road to Peredition which is a good quality Xvid , followed the tutorial to the letter and ended up with the two usual mpg files wihout any problems.
Came to burn the mpgs in VCD easy (added chapters, selected SVCD 1.0 in VideoCD Type , etc , etc ) after checking the file VCDeasy informed me that a Mpeg2 file was required for this standard not a Mpeg1 , but did I want to add the file anyway , thinking this must be a small bug in Vcdeasy I added the file and burn`t the disc.
Try`d to play the disc in WinDVD and it played fine , try`d it in my standalone DVD player (Yelo 800 , has played everything thrown at it ) and although it appeared to load the SVCD would`nt play the disc.
Went back and re-cut the disc in VCDeasy using VCD 2.0 as the Video CD type and the disc plays fine in the standalone dvd player.
The question is "have I missed somthing and encoded the Xvid to vcd by mistake or is there a problem with xvids in general"
I have all the codecs correctly installed and the very latest versions of all the required software .
Thanks in advance
