What codec is the file using and how did you get it onto your PC?

If you are talking about a DV camera, then you would have captured via firewire to a DV AVI. Doesn't sound like you are talking about a DV camera though. Do you have a VFW MJPEG codec installed? If not that could be the problem.

Its a digital camera which doubles as a digital camcorder,
i can save the video onto my computer and play it using Media Player , NVDVD etc.
I use the software that came with camera to download into a folder, Pictures: Jpeg , Audio: Wav , Video: Avi
File format says "video Clip" with "avi" extention.
The avi plugin is already on Vegas but when i open the file i get
"Video: stream attributes could not be determined"
Audio is fine !!!
Pictures are fine !!! (PhotoShop)

I think you can use something like AVIcodec (freeware: http://avicodec.duby.info/ ) to check for the avi flavor (settings) you are getting from your camera videos and see if it's supported or not by Vegas. You may need to transform it to another avi settings or another codec to be able to edit it in Vegas Video. Check VCDHelp.com or Digital Digest for more info on these issues

Like I said install a VFW MJPEG codec (this is what the camera is probably using).

The above program or GSpot will tell you what codec is being used though.

Could also try opening it with VirtualDub as it has native MJPEG support.
