AVI to VCD burn problem using Nero 6

I'm trying to burn A VCD from an AVI file using Nero 6 and I get a Runtime Library Error saying that Nero.exe has had an abnormal program termination.
When I read the help it said that to preform the conversion from an AVI file I need the vmpeg2enc.dll file.
I searched whole the web to find this dll file and couldn't find it.
Where can I get this file ?
How do I install it ?
Is this really what I need ?

A quick solution is to NOT use NERO to convert the files as this as you have discovered caused a crash/error :(

I Suggest using TMPGENC :)

Follow our tutorials in the DVIX,AVI to vcd/svcd section of the forum :)

I agree. Do not use Nero for the conversion. I have been using extensively for months Avi2mpeg2 V1.24 beta 13 which with the correct settings works perfectly well and is very fast. Additionally it offers Black and White only encoding which is convenient (takes less space on the VCD) for old BW movie afficionados like me.

It is a little difficult to set up first time cause of a multitude of controls. Once set (as defaults also) no problem.

Vmpeg2Enc.dll problem

First, I wanna thank u all 4 all your help,
But yet I have another problem :
What do I do with the vmpeg2enc.dll file ???
I can't just copy it to the correct directory right ? it does'nt work that way.
Do I need to install it somehow ?
and if I do, How do I install it ?

I really appreciate all of your help, but it really bugs me that I was able 2 burn a VCD from AVI with an older version of Nero without any problems,
but not with Nero 6.
So please, any suggestions What do I do with the DLL file ?
How do I install it ??
I know copying it to the directory isn't enough.
I promise, if I'll c Nero is doing 2 much trouble on the conversion I'll use all the things that you offered here on this thread, but before I give up on Nero, I just want some instructions about what to do with the dll file, please.

1. Yes, the Nero mpeg2 encoder is absolute rubbish.
2. It is also a commercial rubbish, so I am surprsised that the above WAREZ attachment has survived so far...
3. I guess it's slotted into the program directory and works, unless it's outdated. You never know with warez.

But as already said, Tmpgenc, CCE or procoder are astral years Ahead...
