AVI to SVCD tutorial question

on step 2, the "convert divx3 to divx4" was not available (it was shaded grey)

on step 9 there wasn't a Sharpen tab or option also there wasn't an MPEG2DEC2.dll however there was an MPEG2DEC3.dll (that was what I chose)

anyway, i ran it all night and woke up to this error

Executing RunbbMPEG. Commandline:
"C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\movie stuff\DVD2SVCD\bbMPEG\RunbbMPEG.exe" "C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\bbMPEG_Muxed_File.mpg"
bbMPEG failed. Exitcode: 3221225786

obviously it didn't work, instead of having 2-3 bbMPEG files I only had one and it was 47min of the movie.

Don't know if the above options had to do with the failure or not, any ideas?

GREAT tutorial Chicken Man very easy to follow!

Thanks and welcome to the forum.

If the DivX3 to DivX4 is greyed out and you are able to play the movie on your PC then there is no problems. It just means that DivX3.11 is not installed and DivX5 that you do have installed is able to play it back.

The latest version of DVD2SVCD has removed the Sharpen option. It did very little so just ignore that option.

Also with the latest DVD2SVCD you now have a choice of which AVISynth to install. ver 2.08 gives you MPEG2DEC2.dll while 2.52 gives you MPEG2DEC3.dll The last one is the best now and a lot quicker as well.

As for the bbMPEG err, check in the folder were all the files were made, do you have a large Encoded_Video_CCE_PAL.mpv (or NTSC version) file and an Encoded_audio_1.mp2 and when their sizes added together they are approx 2x 800 or 3x800 ? If the audio was not extracted from the AVI fully (due to a problem with the audio stream), then it will be very small and bbMPEG thats trying to mux this file to the mpv file erros out. If this is the case, VirtualDUB, NanDUB or VirtualDUBMod can extract the audio for you even if there are errors. Then manually convert to MP2 form using BeSweet GUI and rename this file to Encoded_audio_1.mp2, copy over the extracted one, then run DVD2SVCD, selecting the Revover option (Misc tab) and selecting it to start at the bbMEG Mux and Cut stage.
