Is there a simple foolproof way of converting AVI to DVD with one package. I have tried using one of the tutorials on here but I cant seem to get to grips with it, I followed the instructions but still managed to get no sound and the frame froze after around 1 min. I guess I am looking for a lazy way

AS i said many times,i converted avi(divx and xvid)using cm tutorial with dvd2svcd more then 50 times, all comes more then great :)
I always used cce as encoder.Even newer version of cce like 2.67.xxxx worked ok-so tutorial is awesome and it works.
Check the file first always with a gspot or avicodec to see if the file is rendered properly..If you got the codecs right-it will work,at least thats happened in my case.Usually my avis were divx or xvid with mp3 as audio and it converted great :)

I have used it for as long as I have converted AVI's my suggestion is to PRINT the tutorial & follow it precisely & if your PC is up to it then U should have no problems

There are lazy ways like Nero above BUT if RESULTS are what U want (ie Quality) there are no shortcuts

PS

If your not sure about any of the steps, just ask. Thats why the forum is here. I've run the avi to dvdr tute, lets say, MANY MANY times and I can set it and do it with my eyes closed (well sorta). I take it all for granted, but these been a lot of trials over the past 18 months to get it right and many failures. You learn from the mistakes, the Tute is just to help others short circuit the many problems I had to deal with myself.

As I said, anything unclear, just ask.
