avi to dvd (CBR vs VBR)

hi

i do quiet alot of encoding avi to dvd i always use CBR bitrate but been
lookin into useing VBR 2 pass if i use VBR will the quality be better

Yes .... Most definately. (for a similar output size).
 
Depends on what your using to encode with. If TMPGEnc, then you may see a small improvement at the sacrefice of an enormouc time increace. If you use CCE, then you will both a quality increase and a speed increase.

If your putting 1 avi full length movie to 1 dvdr, then for the average movie, the bitrate will be so high, there will be little difference between the 2. If your putting 2 or 3 avi movies to a dvdr, then you will see mucg better results with VBR encodes.

FYI, 99% of commercial dvd's are VBR.
