.avi to a format that will run on DVD players ?

I'm d/l spiderman at the moment and would like to put this .avi format into some format that I can burn put onto a cd that would play in dvd machines. How do I go about it ? Ta.:)

Phil K you have been around here for a while, I would have thought for sure you would have seen ChickenMan's tutorials for movies by now.
Anyhow, all depends on the hardware you have. If you have a DVD-R burner, then you can convert your file to burn onto a DVD-R disc, otherwise if you are like most, best you can do is VCD or SVCD (provided your standalone DVD player accepts these formats).
You would simply just run it through TMPGEnc to convert to either of those formats (VCD/SVCD compliant mpgs) then burn with Nero (though you could use others).
For more better detailed info, just check out the tutorials section.

O.K. (Stand in the corner and wear the pointy hat with the big red "D" on...) c'mon lads dont be so pompous. I asked a question and I didnt expect to be scolded. C.M. is a class act and a credit to Oz. And I'll admit to asking before looking. But hell's bells man - you'll do the same, some time !

Phil K, dont worry about it all mate, they are just doing their job.

You are right, sometimes even I ask a question before searching! (and even get pulled up !)

Just try the tutorial from the link above. Any problems, just post. Friends have already converted the SpiderMan SVCD to VCD without problems, so dont expect to many.

errr Phil K I wasn't trying to be pompous. Just surprised you never ventured into the tutorials section. My humor is a bit off the wall, but when I scold you, you will know it for sure =) lol.
Anyhow, no hard feelings little ducky.

Thats perfectly OK. (Me too with the acid tongue by the way !) Got all of the relevant tutorials from your tutorials now, C.M. Now all I need is for the flamin' download to complete ! The sodding thing cut itself off about 15 mins after I left for work, hence I'm only 50% done when I thought it would be done and dusted !
