avi resolution (xvid)

The normal resolution is 352 x 288. I've done them at 480x576 and even at dvd size of 720 x 480 but, then the larger you try to make the size the less quality you get.

There is no normal resolution, although you really should stick with mod16.

If you do use non 1:1 resolutions (like the ones above) make sure that you set the PAR correctly when encoding, but keep in mind that they won't be scalled correctly on all players.

Is it 480x576

or can I use DVD resolution?
Ist never 480 x 576, that the resolution of a PAL SVCD. A width of 640 and appropriate height (depends if 4:3, 16:9 or 2.3:1 etc) is always a good starting point.
