Avi - Dvd

Hi, Can anyone please explain to me how to convert the avi files i have download into a format that can be playable on my standalone dvd player.

do i just use tmpgenc and select dvd instead of vcd and, then just burn this in nero, (But choosing what template in nero)

thanx in advance for your help

Yes use Tmpegenc and choose vcd, then burn Video cd with Nero!
If your DVD player supports svcd then you can choose SVCD in Tmpeg too and burn as Super VCD with Nero!

i haven't made my self very clear, what i meant is, is there any way of converting AVI files to DVD format (VOBS) so that i can burn them on a dvd and play in most standalone dvd players.

thanx

converting

Yes of course you can convert your .avi file into .vob files for writing to a DVD. You can edit your movie and convert it to an mpeg2 file from within Adobe Premiere 6.5. You can just convert your .avi file to separate mpeg 2 files (video and audio) with something like Cinema Craft's encoder or one of the other encoders around. In either case, you'll need to "author" your DVD which in simple terms means, to create a usable DVD from video, audio, and menu files. Simple program such as Sonic's MyDVD can import the mpeg 2 video and audio file, generate menus for you and write out to a DVD writer in a few short steps. More capable program such as Sonic's DVD Producer or Scenarist can to just about anything possible on a DVD - it all depends upon how much effort you plan on putting into the project. Do a search for the above items to get a good feel for what users on here prefer, and more about them.
Have fun :)
