avi convert

Chickenman, I used your tutorial to convert an avi file of Lord Of the Rings to mpg using TMPGEnc and for some reason the resulting mpg has no sound. I tried a few times too. One thing I did notice was that it was a PAL file but it would play the video so that seems ok. And the original avi playes ok as well. What can I do to get the mpg to have both the audio and Video? Thanks.....

Load the AVI into VirtualDUB. In audio tab select Full Processing Mode. Then in File tab, select Save WAV...

Then in TMPGEnc, use the AVI for the Video source, and the new WAV for the audio source.

Ok, one last question and I will try to leave you alone...lol... The resulting wave file has loud parts and quieter parts. Is there a way to equalize the audio so I am not turning the volume up and down on the whole movie?

Leave me alone ? haha that will be the day ! LOL

TMPGEnc provides no facilities for Dynamic Rang Compression, only Normalization. In the new Tmpgenc 2.52, in Settings, go to Audio tab, click Setting button, then Normalize button, enter 100 then OK. It will go through the audio and determine the correct Normalize value. Hit OK and then make sure Use Audio Edit is ticked.

You should ALWAYS Normailize all AVI's as you have no idea how they where originally made. 90% of the AVI's I convert need a substantial Normalization.

LOL... you are right about that.... I lied... But seriously thanks. That took care of the problems I was having. Thanks again..........
