Audio_ts

how come lots of tutes say to put an AUDIO_TS in file ?
I have burnt a lot without and they seem Ok play in different standalones etc...

Instant copy does not put this folder in automatically.
I havent had any problems yet, but as The Poacher says, some players are meant to reject the disc.

You are right davemll. InstantCopy does not put this folder in.
I myself wonder too, though haven't had any problem yet.
I tried to search for info's about this folder and its "function" but did not find much about it.
If someone have knowledge about this please educate us?!!!!

Maestro automatically generates an empty AUDIO_TS folder when it authors.

I also have MANY original DVD's with no AUDIO_TS folder, all have the VIDEO_TS folder only. If its needed, then why is Hollywood producing dvd's that would not work in all DVD Players ?

Can someone actually name a DVD player that will not play a dvd disk WITHOUT the Audio_TS folder ?

My m8 in the UK has a player that won't play the discs w/o the AUDIO_TS folder ... will ask him what he's got. My Apex 1100W plays 'em fine. Actually, NONE of the originals I have or have ripped from contain the AUDIO_TS fodler at all.

I always add one myself but have never had any playback problems on discs without the AUDIO_TS folder. Strange situation really.

Hi 420 and welcome to the forum m8, I think I know you from some place else maybe? :D Good to see you here!

@420, yes would love to know the make and model if it can be absolutely varified it cant play a DVD without an AUDIO_TS folder on the DVD. Can you varify by using a pressed bought (or hired DVD) rather than a DVDR as that can have media issues.

Many thanks.

@Laz, yes I to add the folder in always as its so simple to do anyway and dont have any playback problems. I suppose its a case of "just in case" really. I have not heard, seen or read any actual conformation as to whether it should be included or not. Just opinions. Still searching.

I once read it on doom9 or vcdhelp, but it may have been corrected now.
If possible I put one in, cos its sods law someone u know will suddenly find they dont work.
I wouldnt lose any sleep over it. ;)
