Audio Transcoding

Hello to all at the forum, nice place you have here.

My question relates to a program called HeadAC3he (V 0.23a)...
Transcoding to AC-Wav for DVD authoring, my output audio file is always 1536kbps...is this OK?- Considering the original input are around 384kbps.
Also, when I try to select the the ouput type as AC3-Wav it displays just as 'wav'

I use this prog as the interface seems easy to use and it is very quick.
I've tried Besweet and AC3 Machine to do the same task but my output audio is always very, very quiet despite adjusting the db gain.

Thanx
Emma

16*48000*2=1536,000bits/sec.

Of course AC3-wav has the extension .wav same as a mp3 with a wav header, wma with a wav header, etc.

If you want AC3 to AC3 then HeadAC3e is no good, stick with BeSweet or I guess use HeadAC3e to create multichannel wav's and then encode those with SoftEncode.

Welcome to the forum Emma, good to see you finally made it here.

The best to use is Softencode as C_D said, but it is slow. But if your using AC3 Machine, put a boost of 15 to 20db in there, I find that about right for most AC3 5.1ch to AC3 2ch.

Thanks for that.
Also with Headac3he there is a frame adjustment feature, to select the start and end. Could this help with sync issues? to match up the playing time of the video...just curious.
Have a couple of avi to dvd conversions which are slightly out.

Thanx again

I never found that feature of Headac3he to work for me. The same feature is in BeSweet GUI and always works for me. I also author with Maestro, and if you make a Sync Audio track, it tends to pull it into sync automatically no probs. But if the Audio is out of sync by a constant amont through the movie (the only out of sync type I've found with dvd's) is to use AC3 Delay Corrector, and re-author. That works fantastic and easy to use. Get it from Doom9.net download section.

Thanx CM :)

Toyed around with Headac3he start/end frame settings to match the time of the video length that displays when authoring with maestro. This did the trick! Well pleased!
Will try AC3 delay corrector tho', I like to cover all angles - if one method fails try another.
One last question :)D), if say for example I needed to delay the sound for half a second, what figure of m/s would I input and would it be a minus figure (-)

Thanx

There are 1000 milli seconds to a second, so guess what it would be ? AC3 Delay Coprrectors always assumes a deley so a + will delay the audio and a - will advance it.
