Audio problem

Hey, right, i have a problem with audio synconization, but after reading all posts on this topic before, and tried what people have suggested, i still have no idea what is going on.

Ok, so i have an avi file, that i then use dvd2svcd to make into a folder containing rubbish. I then run bbMPEG_muxed_file00 to make sure that the video and audio are playing together. As always, it is perfect. Then go ahead and convert the .mp2 audio file into AC3 format using ffMPEGGUI.

After this stage place both parts ( video - Encoded_Video_CCE_PAL.mpv and audio - newly created ac3 file ) into tmpgEncdvd. Sitting back and relax until the new folder has been created, and low and behold, i run the file in the video_ts file, and it starts perfect. By the end tho, it is approx, 6-7 mins out.

The audio file is running at 48000khz, although the combined bitrate is slightly over the max, this should not alter the sync by that much should it?

Also, i did convert the avi file from ntsc into pal, is there a posability that this might have had an affect on it? any halp or suggestions? thank you.

ffMPEG's AC3 quality ain't that special to begin with and you are going AVI(mp3)-->mp2-->AC3? Why not just feed the original AVI into ffMPEG and cut out the mp2 phase?

Thanks for that. just did that. Then put the new audio and the original video into tmpgencdvd. As before, the audio is still about 4-5 mins out by the end... the video is infront of the audio, if that is any help. is it just a screwed up avi file?

Could be. Does it use vbr mp3 audio? Could try using mplayer to decode or I believe the util for decoding that comes with AVI2VCD is supposed to be good for dodgy vbr mp3 AVI's.

Also, do the original audio and video durations match? If you load the file in VirtualDub/VirtualDubMod and check the framerate it will tell you.
