"Audio is out by a constant amount throughout the movie"

I new to this forum so I dont know were to post this

I encoded a DivX file with TMPGEnc and multiplexed my m2v file with the Mp2 file. But when I played the file with WinDVD I noticed that my movie was out of sync :( So I followed ChickenMans guide " Audio is out by a constant amount throughout the movie " :D But when i came to part 3. of the guide I got a trouble :(

3. Run MPEG2VCR and under Tools, select MPEG System Multiplexor. Browse for the Video *.M1V/*.M2V file after changing Files Type to All(*.*). Do the same for the Audio *.MP2 file. Now select MPEG-1 System Stream VCD or MPEG-2 Program Stream SVCD depending if its a VCD or SVCD that your trying to fix. Enter an output file name and click on AV-Sync button. Here you have to be able to estimate the amount of time the A/V sync is out. Look for people speaking, Gun fire, door slamming, etc where it is easier to match the sound to the event. If the Audio comes before the Video, then move the slider in +'ve direction to the amount you have estimated. Click on Done, then click Save. In a short time you will have a new MPG file, do NOT shut down MPEG2VCR. Now play the movie, preferably with WinDVD, to check if the sync is correct. If a small adjustment needs to be done (I never get it right first time!) then jump back to MPEG2VCR and adjust the slider a bit more in the direction that's needed. Hit Save again and when done, re-check the file. Repeat until it is fixed.

I load my m2v file and Mp2 file and everything in the guide but when I click on SAVE ( in the MPEG System Multiplexor bar ) this massage comes up " Your selected disc does not have enough space! "

I have 29,1 GB free disc space on my C: drive  When I look on the " Disc Space" bar in MPEG System Multiplexor it's only written " C: 1226.3 MB  I have a lot more then just 1226.3 MB, as you can see.

I hope you understand all of this, and I hope someone can help me :(

I am having a similar problem.

I have a DIVX file that has the audio offset by a constant amount throughout the movie. The audio is encoded in MP3. I want to convert this entire movie for authoring to a DVD (I know how to do this).

What would be the best way for me to fix the audio offset? Should I work on the original DIVX? Should I convert to an M2V and a WAV? Is there a tool that let's me preview the change?

Because I'm not going to VCD or SVCD I don't know if MPEG2VCR will work (I've never used it). Any help will be most appreciated!

Also, a second question (if I might indulge you). What if the original audio encoding was an AC3? I get these frequently. Would this change the method you would use to fix this scenario (since I'd probably want to keep the AC3 stream if possible).

The first answer is my pressing issue, but I figured I'd ask the second as well since I know it is only a matter of time before I hit that situation.

Best is to convert to m2v and wav, then convert the wav to AC3 with BeSweet and AC3 Machine. (you need AC3 audio for 100% DVD Compliance) then use AC3 Delay Coreector (get for www.doom9.net download section) to set the delay forward or back. Then author. If you author with Maestro, it does allow the delaying of the audio by simply sliding the audio track to the right to offset it.
