audio backups wont play?

ive backed up several of my discs using the latest nero, also converting mp3s to audio files. but when i play them on the cheap alba system in the kitchen it wont recognise them, yet on my tecnics system and the pc and the daughters portable they play fine... im burning a 4x speed. should i be burning slower?

Nosher, could be the Alba, some small portables are picky, I, for one, cannot get CDR's to play in a really cheap and nasty Philips out at my mum's, but any other portable I've tried play fine.. where the CD's were burnt at 16x and 24x.

Q's

1. what's the brand of your CDRW drive
2. Did you have problems just recently, or always..
3. What kind of media are you using, CDR? is the dye on the underside light or dark..

---

By today's standards 4x is quite slow, I never burn above 16x most times myself, just to be sure, yet I have a 44x burner! :)

strhlen, merry christmas and thanx for the quick reply.... im using a ricoh burner(mp7200a) which has always been reliable... as for discs they are a cheapie from "time".its a light colour. its not just backups though its stuff ive d/loaded as mp3s and then converted using nero.......i have had it in the past but only once. which is leading me to the conclusion its the discs

strahlen, ive tried a different media, verbatim this time and guess what! it works. many thanx and a merry christmas....

np, sometimes it helps to ask yourself questions :)

I find dodgy stereos often act up with very light coloured dyes, unfortunately they seem to be in the majority these days..

Have a good one Nosher, seasons greetz.
